Will NTA Change the Way Competitive Exams are Held? National Test Agency (NTA) is set to massively transform the way competitive exams are held. Besides conducting the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam (NEET) biannually, the NTA can currently have computer-based testing (CBT) systems. To familiarize students with the net mode, the NTA can set up study centres across the country, focusing additionally on remote areas.

“We are collaborating with the most effective industry players for the security systems. Also, on-line exams can skip the long queue of logistics, reducing the prospect of human error and create the exams secure,” says Joshi. The NTA will set up examination centres, wherever the online tests, together with entrance exams to Medical, Engineering, Management, and pharma courses would be held. “The tests won’t solely be held double a year but for identical exam, there would be multiple shifts. The number of shifts are often extended based on the amount of applications. We predict 4-5 sessions for one cycle of test,” he says. To maintain parity, NTA has determined to create multiple question papers for every exam with same difficulty level. Training of the academicians who draft the question papers has already begun. Solely the first part of JEE – the JEE Mains- would be held doubly, the second league of the test, that is the admission criterion to the IITs would be held only once, because of the mandate earlier. “While the pattern of the examinations are going to be the same, we are drafting the exams based on research. We are conducting psychometric analysis to understand the functionality of every question by studying previous year’s question papers.

As an example, there are some queries that meritorious students cannot crack whereas the underperformers achieve doing it with ease,” says Joshi. “The analysis would be shared with the academicians who would draft the question papers.
