San Marino is a small country surrounded by Italy. The nation was founded in 301 AD by Marinus the Dalmatian. He was a Christian stonemason fleeing persecution of Christians by the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Marinus reached the summit of Mount Titano in San Marino and founded a small community there. The country is named after Marinus San Marino.
