Five Days SSB Selection Procedure:

(Reporting):

Candidates have to appear at the selection center on this day. The applicant’s original documents and copies will be checked. Once your documents are verified, a Personal Information Questionnaire (PIQ) form will be filled out.

PIQ Form: This form requires candidates to provide personal information regarding their educational background, family background, etc. This format is very important. This forms the basis for questions you can ask candidates during individual interview rounds. Your answers will be analyzed by a panel of psychologists.

Day 1 (Screening Test):

Stage 1 will take place the next day. Candidates must pass an intelligence test (verbal and non-verbal) and an image recognition test. In the PP test, a slide (hazy or clear) is displayed for his 30 seconds and the candidate has to write a story. After completing this test, a group discussion session will be held. This sequence is commonly referred to as the Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT).

Intelligence Tests: Includes both. Verbal and non-verbal questions. This is a written test that includes multiple choice questions. You have 30 seconds to answer each question.

Picture Recognition and Discussion Test (PP and DT): This test involves story creation and discussion. Candidates are shown a photo of her for 30 seconds and candidates have to write a story based on the photo within 3 minutes.

Day 2 (Psychology Tests):

It is a set written tests, conduct by a Psychologist. In these tests, candidates psychological suitability will be checked to be an officer. These tests consist of:

Thematic Apperception Test (TAT):
It’s called Picture Story writing. This test is very similar to his PPDT. This test displays approximately 11 images. Each image will only be displayed for his 30 seconds. The test taker then has to write a story based on that photo within her 4 minutes. After 4 minutes another image appears and the same process continues until the last slide. The 12th slide will be blank and candidates are supposed to write their favorite story there.

Word Association Test (WAT):
This is the second psychological test for SSB selection. This test involves displaying 60 words in succession over a period of 50 seconds. Candidates should write down the first thought that comes to their mind about these words.

Situation Reaction Test (SRT):
For this test, candidates are given a booklet with 60 situations. Candidates must write answers based on these 60 situations.

Self Description Test (SD):
This test requires candidates to write opinions about their parents, themselves, friends, teachers, etc. The scheduled time is 15 minutes.

Day 3 & Day 4 – Group Testing Officer Tasks (GTO Tasks):

These Tests are interactive indoor and outdoor activities as a combination of mental and physical work. These tests are as follows:

  • Group Discussion: In this round, a group of candidates is presented with a specific situation or topic (mostly current events). They are expected to discuss various aspects of this topic. The group task officer will observe each candidate during the group discussion.
  • Group Planning Exercise (Military Planning Exercise): In this round, a model of a real practice situation is presented to a group of applicants. They must write their own plan of action for the problem presented.
  • Progressive Group Tasks (PGT): In this round, the group of candidates must overcome several obstacles using support materials such as ropes, boards, and wood logs etc.
  • Half Group Tasks: This round is same as PGT but the numbers of group members will half. Candidates get more chance to show their potential.
  • Individual Obstacles: In this round, candidates are required to attempt 10 obstacles individually.
  • Group Obstacles Race or Snake Race: In this round, all group members will compete to the other groups. Candidates are required to cross certain obstacles with the snake-like rope.
  • Command Task: In this task, an aspirant will be a commander. He will be required to cross some obstacles with the help of 2-3 subordinates.
  • Lecturette: In this round, each individual has to give a lecture for 3 minutes on a topic selected by them.
  • Final Group Task: It is same as PGT. Candidates have another chance to show their potential.

On the same day, the candidate’s interview will be conducted. It involves a personal conversation with an Interviewing Officers.

Day 5 (Conference):

On the final day, the candidates and all SSB board member sit together and chat with the candidates and ask some general questions. The sole purpose of the meeting is to decide whether a person should be recommended as an officer in the Indian Defense Forces. Candidates must appear before the entire examination board, consisting of the President, Vice President, all her GTOs, all psychologists, and the Technical Director.

SSB results will be declared within one hour after the end of the board meeting. Selected candidates will undergo an additional three to five days of medical tests. After medical examination of eligible candidates, the final merit list will be announced.
