CDS 2027 examination dates have been announced for both Paper I and Paper II. CDS 2027 application form is expected to be released on 2 December 2026. The Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination is a national-level competitive examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) twice a year. It is held to select eligible candidates for officer-level positions in the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force.
The CDS selection process consists of two major stages: a written examination followed by an interview. The written examination is conducted in offline mode and generally includes three papers: English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics. Each paper carries 100 marks and has a duration of two hours. Candidates who qualify for the written examination are called for the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview, which includes various tests designed to evaluate their personality, intelligence, leadership skills, and suitability for a career in the Armed Forces.
The CDS examination is highly competitive, so candidates should begin their preparation well in advance. Referring to previous years’ question papers, reliable study materials, mock tests, and practice papers can help candidates understand the exam pattern and improve their performance. Candidates who need additional guidance may also consider joining CDS coaching classes or online preparation programs.
