West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE), Kolkata. It was established in 1951 by an act of the state legislature known as the WBBSE Act of 1950.

The Council was opened by World Bank Governor Dr. K.N. Katju, May 3, 1951. Calcutta University was entrusted with the responsibility of organizing its final exams, administering examinations and developing secondary education in the state. The Board was later renamed as West Bengal Board of Secondary Education in 1964.

The scope of the Council’s activities has expanded over the years; in 1951, the Board started its journey with 1,270 secondary schools taken over from Calcutta University, which increased to 2,312 by the end of 1963 and over 8,000 by the end of 1975. Presently, the Board 10 238 schools.

Important Points to Remember:

  • The exam will take place in a single test per day.
  • The first 15 minutes will only be for students to read the questions.

  • Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Urdu and Santali

The shorthand and typing exam will be held only in Kolkata and Siliguri. Date and location will be announced later. The sewing competition will last 4 hours and 15 minutes. The theory part, location and exam date will be announced later. The Computer Applications exam will last 2 hours and 45 minutes. Each school will administer a practice test on this topic.
