• Permanent Registration Certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery/ Psychiatry Nursing.
• Candidates of Tamil Nadu origin who had studied in other universities and other States have to produce the Eligibility Certificate from the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai–600 032.

An in-service nurse is precisely a 10+2 Registered Nurse and Midwife (RNRM) with a three-year General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) Diploma with a minimum of two years experience (post-post registered as RNRM) in the profession.

(For male nurses who have not completed midwifery in the GNM programme, should have a certificate in any of the Nursing courses of 6-9 months duration set by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery)
