Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar is the 15th IIM set up by the Ministry of Education, (earlier Ministry of Human Resource Development) with the support of the Government of Punjab. After the registration of IIM Amritsar Society on July 27, 2015, the first batch for the class of 2015-17 was enrolled in August 2015.
The institute is attracting over 12 lac average placement and was ranked between 26-30 among the Top Public B-Schools by an Outlook magazine. IIM Amritsar is providing a 2-year-long MBA (PGP) program. The institute follows a two-step process for MBA admissions where the first step consist of choosing Candidate in PI-WAT on the basis of section-a sensible CAT score as well as various other components.
The 2nd stage makes up of calculating for the cumulative score for the purpose of final selection. The minimum qualifying score needed for the CAT is 85%. How to Apply Online Application Form

IIM Amritsar 2023 Eligibility Criteria
- The minimum eligibility to receive MBA is a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 50% marks [45% in case of the Candidate belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons With Disability (PWD) categories] or equivalent from any recognized university.
- Applicants must possess minimum work experience of 6 months.
MBA Selection Criteria
Admission to MBA (PGP) is a two-stage selection that consist of a minimum category-wise force on the score in CAT followed by WAT and Personal Interview for the selected Candidate.
Initially, the Candidate must take the CAT exam held at the All India level. Candidate must secure a minimum in cross-section cut off assigned for every category in order to get selected for the next stage of the admissions process.
Stage I:
Selecting Candidate to the PI-WAT Only those Candidate who secured a pre-determined minimum percentile score in every section and the total score of CAT will be selected for the PI-WAT round. Candidate obtaining the positive raw score in every section of the CAT will only be considered.

Note:
Candidate applying for PI/WAT rounds after you remove the minimum requisite CAT percentile will have to appear for the Personal Interview (PI) and Written Analysis Test (WAT) undertaken by the Institute.
The PI (35% weightage) and WAT (15% weightage) rounds sway the scores of the Candidate on the final merit list.
Admissions for Post Graduate Program in IIM Amritsar are done based on the ranks of students in a final merit list.
Stage II: WAT-PI
All the Candidates will be required to take a WAT on a topic provided by IIM Amritsar. The Writing Analysis Test (WAT) will be done for a duration of 20 minutes to test for the candidate’s command over the appropriate language. During the Personal Interview, the panel will evaluate the candidate’s academic background, quality of work experience, and other personal traits.
Pre-PI scores and PI-WAT scores will be used cumulatively in the final phase to select Candidates for the program. The final selection will be based on the merit list which will be prepared because of the following:
