- Applicants must be registered as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife (RNRM)
- Applicants must have a three-year diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)
- Applicants must have a minimum of two years’ experience in the profession (after registration with RNRM)
Male candidates who have not completed the midwifery course at GNM must obtain a certificate in any 6-9 month nursing course prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council instead of becoming a midwife. The eligibility criteria mentioned above are rudimentary and may vary from institute to institute.
